Art & Cocktails

“Kunst & Cocktails” (Art & Cocktails in German) is a series created by art historian Nathalie Krall for the ArtVenture Club. It is inspired by the beloved and critically acclaimed online series “Cocktails with a Curator”™ from the Frick Collection in New York.

During the turbulent years of 2020 and 2021, when museums and cultural institutions around the world were temporarily closed, “Cocktails with a Curator”™ opened a window into the world of art from home. Week after week, thousands of viewers followed Deputy Director and Head Curator Xavier F. Salomon and his co-curators on YouTube as they shared fascinating stories behind individual works of art, creating moments of connection, curiosity, and discovery at a time when experiencing art together felt more important than ever.

For us at the ArtVenture Club, this was a wonderful invitation to create our own interpretation of the idea. “Kunst & Cocktails” is an occasional series that takes us into the diverse worlds of our participants’ favorite artworks, artists, and Gesamtkunstwerke. Each edition offers a personal encounter with art, exploring the stories, emotions, and ideas that make a particular work meaningful to the person presenting it.

As a format created by everyone and for everyone, we come together to uncover the stories and secrets hidden within artworks and to discover why art makes our hearts beat a little faster. Each evening is accompanied by a specially curated cocktail or a fitting drink recipe, inviting everyone to enjoy a moment of art, conversation, and a little time to slow down.

Which artwork will be discussed? We keep that a surprise until the evening itself. But one thing is always certain: We can look forward to an evening of art, stories, and a carefully chosen drink to accompany our artventure.
