Our Commitments
Our work is guided by a set of shared principles and international frameworks that shape responsible cultural practice. We regard these commitments as a living structure for how we work, collaborate, and evolve together.
We align our activities with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and support a future 18th goal positioning culture at the center of global sustainability efforts. In doing so, we advocate for cultural work recognized as essential to social, ecological, and economic transformation.
As a volunteer-driven organization, we collaborate with leading initiatives in the cultural sector through partnerships, education, and civic engagement. Together, we work to strengthen connection, visibility, and recognition—both for the essential role of arts and culture in society and for the people contributing to a responsible, fair, and diverse Art World of the Future.
Recent political developments make it clearer than ever that we all carry responsibility in a globally connected art world. That includes supporting cultural diversity, protecting our shared cultural heritage, and shaping the stories about our time that future generations will inherit.
A strong civil society gives us the space to think for ourselves, act in solidarity with others, and stand up for what matters to us. That’s why it’s so important to stay grounded in our values, come together around what we care about, and take action to help protect it—especially in difficult times like these.

Sustainability Declaration for the Cultural Sector
The “Sustainability Declaration for the Cultural Sector” by German initiative Culture4Climate is a voluntary commitment by cultural actors to systematically integrate ecological, social, and cultural sustainability into their work. It understands sustainability as a cross-cutting responsibility and as an integral part of cultural practice.
ArtVenture Club was the first network from the art world to sign the declaration in 2023. Since then, it has served as a key guiding framework for our project development, partner selection, and strategic direction.
The signing also led to close collaboration with Culture4Climate, including the Global Goals Lab 2023, where sustainability was explored as a shared learning and design challenge for the cultural sector.

Global Call to Action:
Culture at the Heart of Climate Action
The Global Call to Action of the Climate Heritage Network calls for recognizing culture as an essential part of climate and sustainability policy and for systematically integrating it into strategies and measures.
It aims to strengthen culture as a connecting force between ecological responsibility, social justice, and societal transformation—across countries, sectors, and disciplines.
At ArtVenture Club, we believe the art world can make these interconnections visible, develop visions of the future, and create spaces for collective learning. By co-signing, we position the arts as active contributors to sustainable transformation.

Fair Culture Charter
The Fair Culture Charter transfers the idea of Fair Trade to the cultural sector and frames it as a prerequisite for a sustainable art world.
Like us, it advocates for fair working conditions, transparent structures, and respectful treatment of all cultural actors.
ArtVenture Club was the first initiative from the art world to co-sign in 2024.
As a best practice example in “UNESCO’s Fourth State Report on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions”, this commitment underscores our dedication to responsible structures in the art world.

The Jena Declaration
The Jena Declaration is an international initiative at the intersection of science, culture, sustainability, and civil society. It promotes new interdisciplinary spaces for thinking and acting toward socially impactful sustainability transformation.
The declaration aligns closely with the core mission of ArtVenture Club and connects many of our priorities.
From this commitment, a project partnership emerged in 2025 in which we co-create dialogue formats and learning spaces at the intersection of art, research, and social responsibility.

Global Call to Action:
We make Tomorrow
We Make Tomorrow is a global initiative launched in the context of COP30 in Belém. It brings together diverse actors to work across sector boundaries toward a just and sustainable future. Conceptually, it builds on the Global Call to Action “Culture at the Heart of Climate Action” from COP28 in Dubai in 2023.
By co-signing, we strengthen our international positioning and our identity as part of a global civil society movement. It is also directly connected to our work on the Art World of the Future.

Planetary Arts Movement:
X-Art
The “Planetary Arts Movement: X-Art” is an international initiative by the World Academy of Art and Science that understands art as a force for global transformation. It connects actors from the world of culture, science, and academia worldwide to respond creatively to current challenges and develop new narratives for the future.
By co-signing, we commit to a planet-centered understanding of culture. This commitment strengthens our international networks and connects our guiding principles of sustainability, fairness, and responsibility with a global creative field of action.
